From Scaffold to Production With Claude Code

What You'll Build

By the end of this course, you'll have a real site, deployed to a real domain, built with AI assistance from first scaffold to final deploy. Not a demo. Not a tutorial project. Something you can keep.

  • A working Astro site — structured properly, with layouts, components, and content that's easy to maintain.
  • Your own design system — CSS custom properties, typography, and colour tokens that Claude Code can extend without breaking things.
  • A live deployment — on Cloudflare Pages or your own VPS, with a custom domain and SSL sorted.
  • An AI workflow that compounds — a project CLAUDE.md, reusable patterns, and a way of working with Claude Code that gets faster the longer you do it.

Each module covers the concept, shows how it works in a real project, and gives you the exact prompts and patterns to use with Claude Code.

Time commitment: About 3–4 hours total. Best done one module per sitting, in order.

  1. Why Astro

    What Astro is, why it's ideal for AI-assisted development, and the content site sweet spot where it genuinely shines.

  2. Your First Site

    Scaffold with npm create astro, understand the project structure, build your first layout and page — then preview it locally.

  3. Making It Yours

    Design tokens in CSS custom properties, typography, colour palettes, and responsive layout. A design system approach that Claude Code can work with.

  4. Content and Collections

    Markdown content, Astro content collections, blog posts, and dynamic routes. Structure content so AI can help you write and manage it.

  5. Deploy and Go Live

    Two paths: Cloudflare Pages for free and fast, or VPS for full control. Custom domains, SSL, and R2 for assets.
