Logical reasoning is the ability to evaluate whether a conclusion actually follows from its premises. It sounds basic. In practice, most people skip it — because confident language feels like valid logic, and AI is exceptionally good at confident language.
AI systems build chains of inference from the data they were trained on. Those chains can be structurally sound. The problem is that a valid chain from a wrong premise still produces a wrong conclusion — and AI will deliver that conclusion in the same tone it uses for correct ones. There is no signal in the output that tells you which kind you are looking at.
This module teaches you to trace those chains. Not to distrust AI outputs by default, but to know where to look when something feels off, and to have the tools to find where the reasoning breaks. That skill transfers directly to evaluating any argument — from a vendor pitch to a board presentation to a policy proposal.
The four sections that follow draw on logic, probability, mathematical puzzles, and wartime cryptography. Each one isolates a different aspect of how reasoning can go wrong — and how to catch it.
